Our student-athletes start their journey at The Togethership with diverse experiences, talents, and interests. Recognizing and building on these unique qualities, we’ve created a learning community and culture where student-athletes are encouraged and empowered to discover who they are, where they want to go, and what matters most to them. Here in our classrooms, on the field and court, and across our campus, your student-athlete will have every opportunity to develop as a creative thinker, problem-solver, engaged citizen, and most importantly, as an individual.
We hold our student-athletes to a higher standard, and they rise to the challenge. Through leadership training, mentorship, and programs like our Chalk Talk Sessions that focus on strategy and a growth mindset, your student-athlete will build the confidence, skills, and mental acuity to lead in the classroom, on the field or court, and across all areas of life. Our instructors, coaches, and older students model positive leadership behaviors as well, giving student-athletes the opportunity to learn by example.
Mental development matters just as much as physical and athletic development. Your student-athlete will be asked to exercise their mind to think critically, solve problems, learn from mistakes, and bounce back from disappointments. This mental fortitude and tenacity prepare your students view challenges as opportunities as they advance their academic and athletic careers in high school, college, and beyond.
Our student-athletes are on the cusp of adulthood, and now is the ideal time to impart important life skills that will help them become mature, responsible, and successful high school and college students and adults. Your student-athlete will develop his or her financial literacy, learning the importance of managing finances. Good study habits are reinforced with stronger skills in time management, goal setting, self-motivation, and focus. With a toolbox of life skills to draw from, your student-athlete will be able to make smarter decisions and achieve self-sufficiency.
Making a positive impression is key to reaching your student-athlete’s athletic and academic goals. As part of classroom learning and performance training, we help student-athletes develop strong communication, presentation, and public speaking skills that demonstrate a high level of maturity. Your student-athlete will be ready to interact with admissions staff, recruiters, coaches, and teachers with clarity, confidence, and respect.
Student-athletes are given the tools and support to understand, manage, and communicate their emotions in a positive way. By helping student-athletes identify their feelings, we also help them self-regulate. With an emphasis on empathy and respect for others, student-athletes from a diverse range of experiences and backgrounds learn to work together as a team, manage conflict, feel more confident in social situations, and build stronger friendships.
Classroom learning incorporates a range of creative arts activities and projects that encourage student-athletes to explore their interests and identities, become more comfortable with self-expression, and improve mental wellbeing with a positive creative outlet. Creative arts have been shown to help foster self-esteem, empathy, and cultural awareness while also boosting spatial awareness, language and math skills, and outside-the-box thinking.
Through community engagement and service projects outside the classroom, student-athletes can see the direct impact they have on their communities and other people’s lives. While allowing student-athletes to make a difference, community engagement helps support their personal growth, social awareness, citizenship, and a sense of belonging and connection. Fun, impactful, and meaningful, service projects encourage student-athletes to see themselves as part of something bigger.
