Serving grades 6 through 8 and High School Prep, The Togethership inspires and fosters curiosity, creativity, and a love for learning. On our safe, modern, welcoming campus community, inside small classrooms led by dedicated and credentialed educators, our student-athletes are challenged to think critically and independently while finding connection, collaboration, and comradery.Â
Â
Our student-athletes take tremendous pride in their academic achievements and emerge exceptionally well prepared for the rigors of prestigious high schools and the nation’s leading colleges.
Starting in grade 6, student-athletes engage in a challenging, standards-based, and well-rounded learning experience that creates a solid foundation of knowledge to support a successful academic career through high school, college, and beyond. Age- and grade-appropriate curriculum builds from grade to grade to ensure a seamless transition and progress-based academic journey.Â
While strengthening core areas of reading, writing, science, math, and social science, the learning experience at The Togethership emphasizes self-improvement, a growth mindset, emotional intelligence, mutual respect, and the real-world application of classroom learning.
Grade 6 is a significant transition for many students and families. At The Togethership, we create a sense of community and belonging for student-athletes who come from many different schools to begin their middle school journey with us. While building strengths in core subjects of English, math, science, and social science, we also help 6th graders develop critical skills of time management, self-management, respect for others, confidence, and good study habits that support them throughout their experience at The Togethership and beyond.Â
Because of our small campus size, 6th grade students have many opportunities to interact with older students who serve as supportive role models, guides, and mentors for academic excellence, teamwork, and responsibility.
Grade 7 student-athletes build on the previous year’s curriculum with an exploration of more advanced and complex concepts in math, life science, English, and world history. Student-athletes begin applying their classroom learning to solve problems and explore subjects with more depth and critical analysis.Â
Â
7th graders build a sense of responsibility and citizenship by delving into their relationship with and impact on the world they inhabit. They gain a deeper understanding of current events by exploring the evolution of civilizations and cultures around the world over time. Building skills in language arts and writing, student-athletes also become more effective and confident communicators.
The final year before attending high school for many students, grade 8 is focused on preparing student-athletes for a seamless and successful transition to the high school of their choice. The 8th grade curriculum digs deeper into more complex coursework and prepares student-athletes for standardized testing, HSPT (High School Placement Test), independent high school entrance exams, and college entrance exams.Â
Â
Student-athletes learn to apply reading comprehension skills and practice analyzing texts for deeper themes and concepts. Math courses lay the groundwork for high-school level Algebra. In physical science classes, student-athletes explore more advanced topics in chemistry and physics, including the collection and analysis of scientific data. U.S. History and Geography coursework covers the political, societal, cultural, and economic journey of our nation from the birth of the Constitution to WWI.
Our High School Prep (HSP) program offers student-athletes the invaluable gift of time to strengthen their academic foundation, enhance athletic performance, and develop mental and physical maturity. By reclassifying their graduation year, students gain an additional year to close any gaps, build resilience, and enter high school with confidence. This extra year positions them to compete at a higher level and make the most of their high school experience.
Â
HSP is an enrichment program that builds on our excellent 8th grade curriculum and coursework to reinforce key academic concepts needed for a successful high school transition, while covering new and more advanced coursework to expand the student-athlete’s base of knowledge.
